Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how md2docx handles information when you use our Markdown-to-DOCX conversion service.
1. What we do
md2docx is a free utility that converts Markdown content into Microsoft Word documents. We do not sell or license your documents, and we do not use your content to train models.
2. No document retention
When you submit Markdown content (via paste or file upload) and optional DOCX templates, we process those inputs in memory to generate a DOCX file and then immediately discard the inputs and any intermediate artifacts.
- We do not store your Markdown or generated DOCX on disk beyond what is needed for the request.
- Uploaded files are placed in a temporary directory and deleted as soon as the conversion completes.
- We do not index, inspect, or reuse your documents for analytics beyond coarse, non-content metadata (see below).
3. Logs and metadata
Like most web services, we collect minimal technical information to operate the service and debug issues.
- Server logs may include IP address, user agent, timestamps, and HTTP status codes.
- We may record aggregate metrics (e.g., number of conversions per day, average document size) but never the contents of your documents.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage to remember your preferences, such as theme (light/dark) and advanced layout options. These values are stored on your device only.
- We do not use cookies for tracking users across sites.
- Ad partners may use their own cookies or similar technologies in the sponsored sections. Their use is governed by their respective privacy policies.
5. Third-party services and ads
md2docx is supported by advertising. Sponsored placements may be delivered by third-party ad networks.
- We do not share the contents of your documents with advertisers, only standard web request metadata needed to serve ads.
- Ads may be contextual (based on page content, e.g., “Markdown” or “writing tools”) but not based on your uploaded documents.
6. Security
We aim to protect the service and your traffic using industry-standard practices:
- Transport security (HTTPS) is used when available.
- Temporary files are stored in system temp directories and removed after use.
- We avoid persisting your content beyond the lifetime of a conversion request.
7. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights to process any content you submit to md2docx, and that you do not submit documents containing sensitive personal data where you are legally obligated to avoid such processing.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact us via the details on the Contact page.
