Frequently Asked Questions
Is md2docx really free?
Yes. The converter is completely free to use. We support the service through non-intrusive display advertisements so we don't have to charge users or sell data.
Do you store my documents?
No. We process your Markdown and templates in memory. Once the conversion is complete and the DOCX is sent to your browser, all data is purged from our server. We do not keep copies of your input or output.
Does it support ChatGPT or Claude Markdown?
Absolutely. You can copy the Markdown output directly from ChatGPT, Claude, or any other LLM and paste it into our converter. It will handle the headings, code blocks, and tables perfectly.
Can I use my own Word template?
Yes! You can upload a .docx file as a template. md2docx will use the styles
(fonts, colors, margins) defined in your template for the generated document. This is
perfect for matching corporate branding.
What diagram types are supported?
We support Mermaid, Graphviz (DOT), and PlantUML.
Just wrap your diagram code in the appropriate code fence (e.g., ```mermaid)
and it will be rendered as an image in your Word document.
Is there a file size limit?
Currently, we support Markdown files up to 5MB. This is usually more than enough for even very long technical documents or books.
How do I report a bug?
Please visit our Contact page to send us an email. We appreciate detailed reports, including the Markdown snippet that caused the issue.
